Zoe, the mother of Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, has slammed the exclusion of her son from the England 2026 World Cup squad by manager Thomas Tuchel.

The German tactician on Friday announced his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Surprisingly, Maguire, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, and Adam Wharton are the most significant absentees.

Prior to the public announcement of the squad, Maguire disclosed that he had been dropped by the England manager.

He stated on social media: “I was confident I could have played a significant role this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and devastated by the decision.

“I’ve cherished every moment of wearing that shirt and representing my country over the years. I wish the players all the best this summer.”

Reacting to the omission of the former Red Devils captain in a trending post on X, Zoe wrote that she was “absolutely disgusted”.

She then replied to her son’s earlier social media post, adding: “You couldn’t have done any more. Hold your head high… disgraceful.”

She wasn’t the only family member to speak out; Maguire’s wife, Fern, and his brothers, Joe and Laurence, also expressed unified frustration, labelling the decision a “shambles” and the “worst decision ever”.
