The Magistrates say the judgment would serve as deterrent to would-be offenders to desist from the crime
It was judgment day for 40-year-old driver, Ali Abubakar. He converted a bus meant for commercial use to personal benefits. He was the sentenced to one-year imprisonment by an Upper Area Court in Jos for breach of trust, cheating and mischief.
A panel of two Magistrates sentenced Abubakar after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Adams Galadima and Ishaq Danjuma, gave Abubakar an option to pay a fine of N10,000 each for breach of trust and cheating and another N15,000 for mischief.
The magistrates said that the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Ijuptil Thawur, told the court that the case was reported on December 8, 2021, at the Nasarawa Gwong Police station by Auwal Sani, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the convict was given a vehicle for commercial purposes but instead he converted it for his personal use.
Thawur said that the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 333, 313 and 297, of the Plateau Penal Code law.
