Atlético Madrid winger Ademola Lookman has described Arsenal as a ‘tough and top team’ ahead of his side’s crucial UEFA Champions League (UCL) semi-final clash at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium against the Premier League giants.

The Super Eagles attacker, who joined the La Liga club during the winter transfer window, has swiftly established himself as a key player for the team.

Lookman has made a significant impact in Europe this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in six matches, including a crucial goal in the quarter-final second-leg against FC Barcelona.

However, speaking ahead of the semi-final encounter against the Gunners, the Nigerian international described the match as an emotionally charged one.

He also recognised the formidable challenge that the North London outfit presents, labelling Arsenal as one of the most difficult opponents left in the tournament.

“They are a very tough opponent, a top team; we have to be ready to fight,” Lookman stated, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

“It’s the Champions League semi-finals; there are no easy opponents at this stage. It will be a very tough match.”

Lookman went on to acknowledge that the occasion evokes memories of his early footballing experiences, but emphasised that his main priority is to assist Atlético Madrid in achieving victory and advancing to the final.

“For me, it’s emotional. I grew up in London. My first time was with Charlton, when I was a kid. Being from London, it’s a very special match. What I want is to win,” he added.

The 27-year-old forward’s return after recovering from an injury sustained during Atlético’s Copa del Rey final loss to Real Sociedad is a significant boost for manager Diego Simeone, as it enhances the team’s attacking capabilities.
