The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja branch on Tuesday rejected the much reported new land use charge in Lagos and vowed that it would do everything legally possible to stop what it termed ‘The oppressive tax regime’ allegedly imposed by the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on the people of Lagos state.
Speaking during a protest march/rally to the governor’s office, the Chairman of NBA Ikeja branch, Adesina Ogunlana, urged the protesters to be peaceful, advising that they should remain peaceful and focus on the objective of the protest, which he said is a clear ‘no’ to oppressive tax regime.

The protest is apparently in reaction to a move against the reviewed Land Use Charge Law introduced in the state.
Meanwhile, moves by the Lagos State Police Command to stop the protest failed. Rather, the police made available security to ensure a hitch-free protest.
As the protest lasted, Governor Ambode was conspicously absent to attend to the visibly angry protesters.
