Lagosians move to give Tinubu the Saraki treatment in Kwara, insist, ‘o’toge’

The wind of change that swept Senate President Bukola Saraki as the godfather of Kwara State politics is beginning to hover around Lagos, targeting the state’s kingmaker, former governor Bola Tinubu.

In Kwara, it was a popular Yoruba phrase, O’toge (enough is enough), that resonated with the people who then mobilised to ensure that Saraki’s influence in the state is curtailed. He was unable to win his Senate re-election on February 23.

Like in Kwara, the same phrase has been brought to Lagos with heavyweights backing the movement.

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olisa Agbakoba, Spokesperson of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin and Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are among its arrowhead.

The group was to meet at the Lagos Airport Hotel to address a press conference when officers of the Lagos State Police Command stormed the venue and dispersed the few people who were already seated.

Under the aegis of ‘Orange Movement for a Free Lagos State, the theme of the press conference was ‘Setting Lagos free from Bourdillon Bondage, #OtogeLagos.’

The policemen did not allow anybody to come inside the hall while firing several shots to disperse the crowd.

According to a Daily Trust report, the policemen came in about 10 vehicles to prevent the press conference from holding.

The police spokesman, Chike Oti, however, claimed that the police acted on intelligence that hoodlums would want to hijack the press briefing.
