Adeola the king’s daughter, @dearolaa, has narrated how her friend broke up an engagement after finding out her former boyfriend bought the ring with N10,000 ring.
According to Adeola, after several weeks of being engaged, her friend found out the ring was not worth much and decided to call off the engagement.
“My friend got engaged and cut off the engagement immediately because her boyfriend proposed with a 10 thousand naira ring. I asked how she knew it was a ten thousand naira ring then she said she has seen it on a vendor’s Instagram post before. Can you imagine?” She said on Twitter.
Twitter users are, however, divided over the lady’s action with some faulting the lady for breaking the engagement over a ring.
Some said they will gladly accept the ring as that is the definition of their relationship but a symbol of love.
@yarinyaAbbah said the problem was not the ring but lack of love on the part of the lady.
“10K ring is not the problem here. She doesn’t love him or there’s something she’s not saying. But if it’s the ring i will suggest she buys the one she likes with her money and give it to him to propose to her,” she said.
Others faulted the man for not trying harder.
A member of the Lagos House Assembly and former Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, also faulted the man for proposing with N10k ring.
