Kwara student’s death: Court remands prime suspect, 4 others in Ilorin prison

Abdulrahman Bello, the prime suspect in the murder of a final year student of the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin, Hafsoh Lawal has been arraigned before a High Court in Ilorin.

He was arraigned on Tuesday alongside four other persons arrested in connection with the crime.

The five of them pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge brought against them while Bello further pleaded not guilty against one other charge against him.

Other suspects are Ahmed Abdulwasiu, Suleiman Muhydeen, Jamiu Uthman and Abdulrahman Jamiu.

Bello and the four others were accused of conspiring and causing the death of Hafsoh Lawal and dismembering her body.

They were also accused of conspiring and engaging in the removal of her body parts, draining her blood and being in possession of human parts and blood.

Bello was alone accused of raping the deceased, an offence punishable under section 283 of the Penal Code CAP P4, Laws of Kwara state.

The attorney general and commissioner for justice in Kwara State, Senior Ibrahim, led the prosecution team.

The suspects also had their legal representatives appearing for them.

Justice Hannah Ajayi of the court ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Oke Kura correctional facility till May 7 when hearing will commence.
