Akwa Ibom Gov. Eno drums support for Tinubu’s second term

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno has started drumming support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead the 2027 election.
The governor, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), assured Tinubu of his support towards the president’s re-election during the flag off ceremony of a 65-km road construction in Akwa Ibom State.
“Let me end by assuring our president (Tinubu), our people-loving president, who will complete 8 years because we are going to stand by him,” the governor stated, signaling a likely move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
An online news platform, West Africa Weekly, had earlier reported that Eno was planning to defect from the PDP to the APC, a move aimed at shielding his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, from potential prosecution from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The report claims Eno had consulted PDP stakeholders on his decision to switch parties.
The report specifically reported May 13 as the date set for Eno to join the ruling party in a move to stop the EFCC from continuing the probe of his predecessor and benefactor, Udom Emmanuel.
