Former governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, has said that he learnt a lot while serving time at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Nyame was in 2018 jailed 14 years for misappropriating public funds. In 2022, then-President Muhammadu Buhari granted him pardon.

While declaring that the prison experience had bestowed him invaluable lessons, he also advised leaders to stand strong in the face of challenges.

Nyame said, “I learned a lot while in Kuje prison and the hospital. If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained.”

Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Gudu, Abuja, had on May 17, 2018, sentenced the former governor to 14 years imprisonment for acts of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of the sum of N1.64 billion belonging to the state.
