All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming general elections in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has told financial institutions that they risk losing their money if they approve loans for outgoing Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He issued the warning via a press statement signed by the director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, on Tuesday, October 20, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Alli was reacting to a recent move by the Makinde-led administration to obtain another N100 billion loan from a commercial bank.

Makinde, who is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), is expected to complete his second term in office in May next year.

Reacting to the move by the incumbent governor to obtain a loan a few months before handing over, Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the APC, said any financial institution that lent the governor another loan would be called to answer for what transpired.

The lawmaker claimed that the proposed funds meant for the forthcoming local government election in the state were another way to waste resources.

Alli said, “Financial institutions cannot afford to disregard prudential lending standards merely because a sitting governor is seeking credit facilities.”
