Bayern Munich have confirmed that midfielder Joshua Kimmich will not be available for Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash against Arsenal due to a bereavement in his immediate family.
The Bundesliga champions shared the update ahead of the European encounter in a statement posted on their official social media channels.
Arsenal will face Bayern tonight at the Allianz Arena in what appears to be a repeat of last season’s group-stage encounter in which the Gunners triumphed.
The German giants have so far gathered four points in this season’s competition from a victory and a draw, while their opponents have recorded two wins in their opening two games.
However, in a statement released ahead of tonight’s clash, Bayern noted that Kimmich will not feature after losing a member of his family.

While pleading that people should respect “his privacy and grief”, the club sent their “deepest condolences” to the player and his loved ones.
The club wrote, “Due to a passing in his immediate family, Joshua Kimmich is not in the squad today for the match against Arsenal.
”On behalf of the family, we ask that his privacy and grief be respected, and that further inquiries and reporting be refrained from.
“We send our deepest condolences to Joshua Kimmich and his loved ones.”
Bayern had announced on Tuesday that Kimmich missed the team’s final training session ahead of the game for personal reasons.
