Lawyer and actor Kenneth Okonkwo has told Nigerians that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is the platform through which the country can be rescued from its current challenges, urging them to join the party.

He made the appeal on Thursday night in a video shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.

According to the Nollywood thespian turned politician, he aligned with the ADC because of its constitutional commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.

Okonkwo said, “I joined this great party because the constitution of our great party says we are in pursuit of the welfare of the nation and our people.”

Okonkwo went on to say that his decision to join the party was part of a broader effort to help reposition the country, and he urged Nigerians to support the movement.

“I joined the ADC as part of the rescue team, and I’m urging all Nigerians to join the ADC so that we can save our country from imminent collapse,” he added.

The former spokesman for the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential campaign also warned that the country would not be able to cope with another four years of its current challenges, criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its poor performance.

Okonkwo stated, “We will not be able to endure four more years of the unavailability and high cost of fuel, insecurity, corruption, and incompetence. We are now a laughing stock across the globe. ADC to the rescue; we may not survive another four years of the incompetence and corruption of the APC.”
