Jonathan Gruber, High and mighty MIT professor, Obamacare crafter factored in “voter stupidity” into the healthcare equation to hide the scare in the care. Then he went about a grubering. Gabbing and blabbing about the open secret closed to at least one-half of half the natives. This is the way things now go in the “land of the free.” First comes the whopper. The smart natives outraged cry foul. Then All the President’s Media so hot for the president play it cool. Then come the media buzzards circling to find whom to devour. The media spin goes into overdrive. the media hype, the media cover. Redressing historical wrongs legitimate or not, trumps the hallowed tenets of Press freedom and responsibility of the press.
The ditty above I have tried to compose highlights in a nutshell what is going on in America. Jonathan Gruber has agreed to testify in Congress and I expect the liberal mainstream media and academia would provide cover for one of their own. Gruber may prove his point: voter stupidity and lack of transparency, thanks to the media, work well for an increasingly overbearing White House administration.
Most of the natives don’t know about the Gruber firestorm raging mostly in the conservative media. Going by Fox News Channel’s Watter’s World, not even the Yale and Harvard students are following the story. It’s not only the voter’s lack of understanding of economics that Gruber Liberal types prey on, it is also the voters’ lack of basic awareness about the important issues of the day.
Those deficits in the voting population worked to sell Obamacare and it works to sell President Obama’s recent immigration executive order. Of course some people benefit from the executive orders and I won’t even mind enjoying such benefits for myself, friends and relatives. I would like my entire village to stream into America. But would that be good for America or my village? There are many people in Africa and the Middle East whose sufferings render them more eligible for the benefits of America residency than the Hispanics streaming into America.
The “stupidity” that Gruber trumpeted is seeping into the mind’s of Africans in America. They were not this “stupid” in Africa. But once they become liberalised and radically so, they become as “stupid” as the natives who subscribe to the radical secular, liberal agenda. It’s not that they lose their innate smartness, many of them are indeed successful, but as they become more and more unmoored from their African conservative roots they sound more and more like the atheists and secular humanists here. Many of them listen to MSNBC non-stop, and that leaves me lamenting the damage done on my fellow Africans by this race-baiting cable news channel that is hostile to Judeo-Christian values. There was a time when Africans came here and repudiated the liberal values that the Democrats have used to woo the African-American community. Now they too have been bought over as they settle into America and fold into the African-American community. More so, since their brother, ascended to the throne.
One of such Africans is my good friend “Fonna.” She is a Christian, not just a mainstream denominational Christian, but a firebrand Pentecostal who was neck-deep in the revival movement that swept across many parts of Nigeria in the eighties. Now there’s hardly any difference between her worldview and that of atheists and secular humanists. I tell her I wish she would vigorously defend Christian values the same way she fights for President Obama and his liberal agenda. She was rejoicing when he issued the executive order on immigration. “Why are you celebrating when you don’t even fully understand how it is going to play out?” I wailed. Not even legal experts have agreed whether he acted within his constitutional powers. Some immigration experts say it might not even benefit the supposed beneficiaries in the long run. And how does an increase in the Latino population in the U.S affect the native Blacks of this land? The White Latinos who are the main beneficiaries of the executive order are after all the “oppressors” in their own land where the Blacks and the indigenous citizens are second class citizens. My good friend does not care about all that. She is just ecstatic that her brother stuck it to the evil Republicans.
“These Republicans, they hate him,” she spat out. What does hatred have to do with opposing an immigration order that has the potential to impact the country in many ways — good and bad. Maybe Gruber was right. The people are so stupid now you can sell anything to them by using the right buzzwords. Just tell them that anybody who opposes his agenda hates Obama, is racist and worse than ISIS.
She, like many Africans here does not care about the loss of religious liberties under this president. She has not even heard about the subpoena of the sermons of five Houston pastors issued by the gay Mayor of Houston. The pastors oppose her homosexual and transgender agenda for the city. I said to my friend “you are rejoicing over an immigration order you don’t fully understand but don’t care about the president’s promotion of abortion and gay rights. His supporters have a stock answer to that. More on that later.
