Former President, Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night, met with the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark.
The meeting took place shortly after Mark, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and other top members of the ADC held its first National Caucus meeting in Abuja.
Even though the purpose of the meeting could not be ascertained immediately, many Nigerians believe it may not be unconnected to the 2027 presidential election.

Prior to this development, some members of the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had appealed to Jonathan to join the 2027 presidential race and contest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Bayelsa State-born politician who was defeated by late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 is only entitled to one term if he decides to join the race and is elected by Nigerians
Mark was the Senate President during the administration of President Jonathan and both leaders shared a great working relationship.
Infact, it was the doctrine of necessity fashioned out by the National Assembly under the leadership of Mark that paved the way forJonathan to assume office as Acting President during the crisis that trailed the ill health of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
