Many people would wish they were in Mbong’s shoes right now. Although she is no longer married to her director husband, Jeta Amata, she is definitely doing well for herself.
She met Jeta in 2001 at an audition in Calabar, but they started dating two years later when she turned 18. Jeta was there for her when she was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl (Akwa Ibom) in 2003 and the second runner-up in the 2004 Miss Nigeria beauty pageant.
They eventually got married in 2008 and had a daughter, Veno, later that year.
Within the 10 years of being together, Mbong had acted in most of Jeta’s films, but it seems the beautiful model felt caged as she actually had her own dreams and aspirations.
Fortunately for her, she was married to a friend who understands how she feels. Thus, they separated and later divorced last year, which was heart-breaking for their fans. But they remain very good friends.
Mbong said, “I was first married to my friend before a husband. That was why we were civil enough to know that even if the marriage didn’t work, we were still friends and that is the bedrock of whatever it is that we have.”
Being a focused woman, Mbong floated her own record label, Bong House, and she is now a landlord in California, United States.
