IPOB accuses Uzodimma, Malami of working against Nnamdi Kanu’s release

IPOB said: “People should ask Hope Uzodimma why is he afraid of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release from DSS custody.”

Contrary to the insinuations in a recent fake letter which purported that the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, wrote to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, pleading the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, the group on Tuesday accused Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma of conspiring with Malami against the release of Kanu.

IPOB alleged that Uzodimma advised the Federal Government against Kanu’s release.

The fake letter dated October 14 and addressed to Malami on a forged Ihedioha letterhead advised the Federal Government to ensure Kanu remains in custody “to guarantee peace and security in the south-east towards the 2023 election.”

Ihedioha, who said it was laughable that he would be writing to Malami, asking him to continue to illegally hold on to Nnamdi Kanu even after a court of competent jurisdiction had discharged him, pointedly accused Uzodimma for the fakery.

“It appears that some people are not satisfied with their stolen mandate. They want to drag me out by an orchestrated campaign of lies. And those carrying out this campaign of calumny against my person are doing so at the behest of the same man who was imposed on Imo State,” Ihedioha wrote.

“If anyone should be afraid of a free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, it is Hope Uzodimma. The fact that he and fellow characters will concoct such a letter shows the level they are prepared to go in order to hang on to the power they acquired through dubious means.

“While Nigerians are aware that those who can forge polling results for manufactured votes can forge anything, I have decided not to keep silent again in the face of this criminal defamation of my character because as we inch closer to the 2023 elections, the evil machinations will intensify,” the former governor further wrote.

On Tuesday, IPOB said it knows those behind the continuing incarceration of its leader despite multiple court hudgements in his favour.

In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group condemned Southeast Governors’ decision to form another Security Outfit instead of supporting its security outfit Eastern Security Network (ESN).

It regretted that the Governors’ insistence on forming Ebubeagu militia, which it claims has been turned into a killer squad.

The group assured that if released, Kanu would assist in stopping the prevailing insecurity in the region.

The statement reads in part: “The intelligence reports available to our authorities said that Hope Uzodimma advised the Federal Government not to release Mazi Nnamdi KANU. We want to assure the public that once our leader is released he will help to stop the criminality going on in all the troubled zones in Biafra especially in Imo State.

“People should ask Hope Uzodimma why is he afraid of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release from DSS custody.

“It is clear to all and sundry that once our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU regains his freedom many sponsored criminalities going on in the East will stop because he is the man that ALL our people respect.’’
