Insecurity concerns have forced the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to relocate this year’s orientation camp from Yikpata, Edu Council in Kwara to the state Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Communities in Edu and Patigi Councils in Kwara North Senatorial District have recently been buffeted by terrorists giving residents sleepless nights.
Kwara NYSC Coordinator Joshua Onifade confirmed the relocation and disclosed that it was approved by the state government following rising insecurity in Yikpata.
He also disclosed that soldiers and other security forces will be deployed to guarantee the safety of corps members during the three-week orientation.
“We are fully prepared to host the orientation course and the welfare of participants will be safeguarded,” Onifade pledged.
According to him, corps members are to report between September 24 and October 14 and a delegation from NYSC Abuja headquarters will inspect the temporary venue in Ilorin.
