Injury woes plague Cameroon ahead of DR Congo World Cup playoff

Cameroon will face the DR Congo in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup playoff on Thursday night in Morocco.

Two prominent players of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have left the team’s camp in Rabat, Morocco, after sustaining injuries in training.

​The players involved are Napoli midfielder, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

​Cameroon is scheduled to face the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff at the Barid Stadium in Rabat on Thursday night.

​The winner of the encounter will meet either Nigeria or Gabon in the final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium on Sunday, November 16. The victorious team in the final will then advance to the inter-confederation play-offs for a spot at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

​However, as Cameroon prepare for the encounters, Zambo Anguissa suffered a hamstring injury and pulled out of Tuesday’s training session, while Choupo-Moting picked up a knee sprain.

​Prior to this, first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, had already suffered an ankle injury.”
