The Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said that anyone who desires to govern Nigeria must prepare to solve problems rather than give excuses, arguing that only result-oriented leadership can fix the country.
He made this known recently while speaking at the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirants’ dinner held in Abuja.
According to Obi, President Bola Tinubu should return to his retirement home if he cannot deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He further argued that it is time for the president to stop giving excuses, adding that the window for such rhetoric has passed.

He noted that the office of the president is meant for individuals who possess the “competence, passion, capacity, commitment, and character to lead”.
Addressing attendees at the event, Obi said:
“What I’m seeing I can change, and that’s why I want the office. I’m not looking for it to give excuses.
“We cannot hire people who will give us excuses again. The time for excuses has passed. If you cannot work now, go home.
“The office is for people who have the competence, passion, capacity, commitment, and character to lead.”
