Former Sweden striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has traced his country’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to France in Tuesday’s World Cup Round of 16 fixture to “indiscipline”.
The former AC Milan forward made this known while analysing the all-European encounter on Fox Sports.
Ibrahimovic watched as the 2022 runners-up thrashed Sweden in the knockout stage game to progress to the Round of 16.
A brace from Kylian Mbappé and another goal from Bradley Barcola gave the French team the victory against Graham Potter’s men.
Explaining why Sweden were eliminated from the tournament, Ibrahimovic admitted that they lost discipline in their organisation, especially in defence against France.
Despite the defeat, he praised Potter for reverting to four defenders and fielding two strikers, Isak and Gyökeres, at the same time.
“I have to speak about my little Sweden; they were stable for 15–20 minutes and then they lost discipline in the organisation, especially in the defence,” he said.
“But I have to give credit to Graham Potter; he went back to four defenders and put two strikers in Isak and Gyökeres.
“That is the way I think they should play, but I am not the coach. Let’s see how far France can go, but this is scary.”
