Afrobeats star, songwriter and music producer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has explained why she cannot be in a romantic relationship with a male Nigerian celebrity.
The ‘Love Me Jeje’ crooner made this known over the weekend whilst responding to a question from an interviewer at the BET Awards ceremony.
Asked if she would approach the trending, handsome Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye if given the chance, she declined, noting that the fact that they are both Nigerian means she would not see him in that light.

The Grammy-winning artist further clarified that she is not interested in a romantic relationship with fellow Nigerian celebrities, adding that she sees them as “brothers”.
Responding to the question, Tems said, “I know who Maduka Okoye is but I don’t know him personally. I wish I did though. But shooting shots at him, we don’t do that over here.
“We [Nigerian celebrities] friend each other and we are family. I see my male colleagues as brothers.”
