How Obaseki is cruising to victory in Edo governorship election

The flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the weekend governorship election in Edo State, and the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, is cruising to victory going by results so far announced on Sunday afternoon.

 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning, started announcing results of the polls conducted across the state on Saturday.

However, Obaseki’s closest challenger is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the results already announced from 13 local government areas.

Obaseki, the candidate of the PDP, has won 11 out of the 13 council announced.

Results for five local governments are being awaited.

A summation of the votes awarded to Obaseki in 13 local governments stood at 243,604, while Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.

Below is a breakdown of the votes awarded to both main candidates in 13 local governments:
