Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has threatened to sue singer Afolabi Oluwaseyi Balogun, also known as Seyi Vibez, over a recent post about her.

On 15 August, Lagos law firm Olaniwun Ajayi LP sent a formal demand letter to the artist on behalf of the chef, citing defamation, malicious content, and potential violations under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.

Earlier, Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, and T.I Blaze called out their former record label boss, Damilola Akinwunmi—famously known as Dapper—over royalty issues and an alleged ₦1 billion in missing funds.

During an online dispute on X, Seyi Vibez took a swipe at Dapper’s girlfriend, Hilda Baci, alleging his former boss spent their catalogue money on her BBL.

In his first post, he wrote: “Na Hilda Baci BBL all una catalogue money dey go. All of una dey craze and una mama,” adding in a follow-up post that her food almost got him killed.

Reacting to the claims via a warning letter sent through her lawyers, Hilda Baci accused the singer of libel and defamation while demanding a public apology.

She also gave him a deadline to remove the posts from all social media platforms, warning that failure to comply would result in legal enforcement action without further notice.

The letter stated: “In light of the foregoing, we hereby demand that upon receipt of this letter, you immediately: remove and permanently delete the above-referenced publications, together with any other statement, post, comment, image, video, or repost.

“Issue a clear and unequivocal public apology and retraction in respect of the offending publications, to be published prominently and contemporaneously across all your social media accounts.

“Within three days of your receipt of this letter, we further demand that you provide a written undertaking confirming that you shall henceforth cease and desist from publishing or communicating any defamatory content concerning our client.”
