Arsenal’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres, has admitted that his goal celebration against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium was a dig aimed at those who mocked him during his first game of the season against Manchester United.

He made this known on Saturday while speaking with Sky Sports after Arsenal thrashed visiting Leeds United 5-0 in their second league game.

Gyokeres did not fire a single shot on target against Man United and was taken off on the hour-mark at Old Trafford in Gunners’ 1-0 win.

Many of his detractors later joked that the Swede took more touch of his hair than he touched the ball during the encounter.

However, the 27-year-old centre forward  responded to the dig by scoring a brace during Arsenal’s annihilation of Leeds.

While celebrating the first goal, he performed a cheeky hair-flick celebration in front of the Gunners supporters.

When asked if his celebration was a  response to trolls who mocked his performance during the United game, Gyokeres said, “Yeah, it might be. It could be something to do with that..

“I’m really happy with the result and yeah, of course, it was very nice to score two goals as well.”
