Former Dutch international and ex-Chelsea midfielder Ruud Gullit has blamed Liverpool’s poor and trophyless season on the death of Portuguese striker Diogo Jota, urging the club not to sack his compatriot Arne Slot as their manager.
He made this appeal to the Premier League outfit recently while speaking with Daily Mail Sport.
According to Gullit, instead of sacking Slot, Liverpool should give him another season to turn things around.

He further noted that the 47-year-old tactician recently won the Premier League for the Reds, adding that the achievement could not have been a fluke.
“Ridiculous!” he said. “They (Liverpool) didn’t win (the league) for a long, long time. They win the championship, and now all of a sudden, you want to kick him (Arne Slot) out?” Gullit argued during the interview.
He added: “A lot of things happened here with Liverpool, a lot of things. Come on. People need more time to mourn (the death of Diogo Jota on the eve of the season).
“What happened has had a huge effect on the team. Therefore, they need to give Slot another season in order to get it right. Come on.”
