Ogun State Government says it will continue to implement programmers directed at improving the lots of its farmers so as to ensure food security in the state.

The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun stated this in Ikenne, Ikenne Local Government Area of the State at a cassava value chain programme of an NGO, Catherina de Medicine Africa organised in conjunction with USAID.
Represented by Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, Senator Amosun said as part of its determination to improve future of the farmers, government has provided N1Billion soft loans, purchased numerous land clearing equipments that are been hired at subsidized rates as well as organized different modern training programs.
He commended Catherina de Medicine Africa and USAID for citing the project which would be on a 4,000 hectare pilot scheme in the State, noting that the project would complement his government’s cassava multiplication farms sited in all the three senatorial districts of the State.
“The joint efforts will make improve varieties of cassava available to cassava growers across the state which will increase the yield and income of the farmers”, Amosun said.
The governor also sought the support of private individuals, organizations and international agencies for continued partnership with his administration in its drive towards ensuring social-economic development in fulfillment of its mission to rebuild the State, assuring that they would find the government a worthy partner.
Speaking earlier, the Principal Partner, Catherina de Medicine Africa, Miss Foluke Michael thanked government for acceding to the request to flag the project of in the State, adding that its mission was to empower the youths and encourage them to practice agriculture.
