Futility of prayer/fasting without obedience, by Funmilade-Joel

Fasting and prayer, without obedience to God’s laws and commandments, are not enough to bring about the fulfillment of God’s covenant in the lives of the people.

President, The Way of Reconciliation Evangelistic Ministries (TWOREM) International, Lagos, Rev. Oladipupo Funmilade-Joel, noted this in his sermon at the church’s interdenominational quarterly programme tagged ‘Bojuwomi’.

The prophet stated that it is very important to obey God at all times and also respect the laws of the land.

According to him, without obedience to God, fasting and prayer would be an exercise in futility.

“Prayer and fasting will never deliver to you what obedience will,” he said maintaining that they are waste of energy, where obedience is not applied.

The cleric further stressed that Christians must do away with disobedience, avoid partial obedience, meditate and always act on God’s commands for supernatural blessings, divine favour and grace.

The prophet warned those bent on impeding the progress of Nigeria to desist from the dastardly act, and if they refuse to repent, they will soon be put to shame.

He urged Nigerians to be positive in their thinking about the country and show unconditional love and pray to free Nigeria, for righteousness to reign over evil, for Nigerians to come together in unity.

The renowned preacher regretted that Nigeria is down because of so many atrocities being committed, especially bloodshed for which God is angry with the country. Thus he advised every Nigerian, irrespective of faith, to beg for forgiveness of yesterday’s sins.

On the state of the nation, he charged the President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari, to be courageous enough to take bold and decisive steps in rendering great service to his fatherland, win the battle for interrupted power supply, encourage private sector and foreign stakeholders to participate in this vital sector which is important for the growth of commerce and industry, to ensure Nigeria’s unity.

“It is not a change in government that can lift Nigeria up, but a change of attitude by everybody is necessary and Nigerians should be more patriotic in everything we do,” he said.
