‘Christ will return suddenly, be prepared,’ Rev Adigun warns at Apostolic Faith camp meeting

The District Superintendent of The Apostolic Faith Church in West and Central Africa, Rev. Isaac Adigun, has called on Christians worldwide to live in constant readiness for the second coming of Jesus Christ, declaring that His return is certain and imminent.
Rev. Adigun gave the charge during a sermon titled “Surely I Come Quickly” at the 2026 Camp Meeting held at Faith City, Igbesa, Ogun State, where thousands of worshippers gathered for the annual spiritual programme.
Drawing from Revelation 22:20, which contains the closing words of the Bible, the cleric described Christ’s promise as both a powerful assurance and a solemn warning to humanity.
“‘Surely I come quickly’ are not mere words of man, but the declaration of our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. It is a message of certainty, urgency and hope in a world filled with distractions, suffering and uncertainty,” he said.
The camp meeting opened with renditions by the choir and orchestra, alongside congregational hymns including Hymns 18, 356, 259 and 664,.” The Scripture reading was taken from Psalms 50:3–6.
Rev. Adigun lamented that many believers have become complacent, forgetting the promise of Christ’s return, stressing that the event is neither a myth nor a mere story, but a divine appointment that will surely come to pass.
“Jesus said, ‘Surely I come.’ It is certain, no disappointment, no delay. His first coming was fulfilled exactly as prophesied, and His second coming will also be fulfilled without fail. God is not a man that He should lie; whatever He has spoken, He will bring to pass,” he stated.
Clarifying the meaning of “quickly,” the cleric explained that it underscores the suddenness and unpredictability of Christ’s return.
“When He comes, it will be swift and unexpected. Nothing can hinder Him, not even the roof of this tabernacle. Therefore, we must be prepared,” he warned.
Citing various scriptural references, including Revelation 22:7 and 12, 2 Peter 3:9–12, John 14:1–3, and Matthew 24:40, Rev. Adigun emphasised that the second coming of Christ would be like a thief in the night, catching the unprepared off guard.
He urged believers to examine their lives and remain steadfast in righteousness, noting that heaven promises eternal peace, free from sorrow, pain and disappointment.
“The place Jesus has gone to prepare for us is one of everlasting joy. The righteous will dwell there forever and ever. Today is the day to examine your life, are you ready for His coming?” he asked.
Expressing hope in the unity of believers at Christ’s return, the cleric added, “Our response should be, ‘Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.’ None of us will be left behind; we shall meet Him in the air.”
The annual camp meeting continues with teachings, prayers and spiritual activities aimed at strengthening the faith of participants and preparing them for what church leaders described as “the ultimate hope of the Christian race.”
