Fubara appoints new SSG, Chief of Staff after Tinubu’s intervention

Fubara said the new appointees will be formally sworn in on Thursday at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has named a new Secretary to the State Government and a new Chief of Staff following President Bola Tinubu’s third intervention in the state’s political crisis.

This was made known on Thursday in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.

According to the CPS, the Governor appointed Dagogo Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as his new Chief of Staff.

He went on to say that both appointments take effect immediately, but did not give reasons for the removal of the former occupants of the offices.

The statement read: “The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Dr Dagogo S.A. Wokoma as the Secretary to the State Government and Barrister Sunny Ewule as the Chief of Staff.

“Both appointments are with immediate effect. The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 pm today, Thursday, February 26, 2026.”

Nzeshi further said the new appointees will be formally sworn in at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.

This means that the new SSG takes over from Benibo Anabraba, while the new Chief of Staff replaces Edison Ehie.
