FRSC, Bauchi agency register 30,000 drivers license

The Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue in collaboration with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) issued over 30,000 drivers license in the state under the new registration scheme.

The board Chairman, Yakubu Isa, disclosed this in Bauchi on Monday.

He said, “We have in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps provided some basic infrastructure in our motor licensing offices in Azare and Misau to help in processing the new driver license registration. As at date over 30,000 driver licenses have been issued so far under the new scheme.

“We have concluded arrangement with the Federal Road Safety Corps to extend this infrastructure to Jama’are, Alkaleri and Toro MLZ’s to bring the services much more closely to the taxpayer”.

According to him, all processes of electronic Motor vehicle registration had been fully automated, adding that the board has reigisterd over 350,000  number plates successfully.

He said, “Registration, renewal, insurance, control of number plates and issuance of proof of ownership is now fully automated. This is helping us to keep a database of vehicle registration for ease of reference and retrieval. This has also reduced the menace of touts, who hitherto, aided and abetted tax evasion and avoidance.”

Isa said, “The Board has since commenced registration of all Keke Napep and Achaba and this effort has assisted us to check the menace of operating without valid license, using motorcycles and tricycles for commercial purposes without registration with motor licensing authorities and using unworthy and rickety motorcycles and trycycles on our roads.
