Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has claimed that he and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remain on cordial terms despite his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this known recently during an interview on Channels Television, while explaining what necessitated his political split from Atiku.

According to the governor, their separation was not the result of a rift between them, but was purely due to differences in party alignment.

He added that those who are genuinely committed to Nigeria’s progress must recognise one another as partners in nation-building.

Fintiri further argued that his political stance was born out of his decision to support a southern candidate.

He dismissed suggestions of any breakdown in communication, noting that political disagreements have not affected their personal rapport.

“There is no strained communication with the former VP as a result of political differences,” Fintiri said.

He added, “I still have [a relationship]; there is nothing that has gone bad. It is just that everybody has taken their own political path. I am today in the APC, and they are in another party.”
