Turkish giants, Fenerbahce have parted ways with their manager, Jose Mourinho, after just six games into the new season.
His sack was announced on Friday in a post shared by the club on their X page.
The final straw for the Portuguese tactician proved to be his 1-0 defeat to Benfica on Wednesday night, which saw Fenerbahce fail to qualify for the Champions League group phase.
Speaking via their verified social media handle, the Turkish Super Lig club thanked Morinho for his service.
The outfit also wished him the best in his future endeavours.
The statement read: ‘Our Professional Football team has parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who has been serving as head coach since the 2024-2025 season.
“We thank him for his efforts for our team thus far and wish him success in his future career.’

According to Turkish media outlet, Spor Arena, the relationship between the 62-year-old and the board of the club became tense during the summer transfer window after he criticised strategy.
