Expose VIPs defying Police escort withdrawal order, Presidency tells Nigerians
By Jeffrey Agbo
The Presidency has encouraged citizens to play an active role in monitoring and reporting any breaches of President Bola Tinubu’s directive ordering the removal of police escorts from Very Important Persons (VIPs).
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, made the appeal during a TVC interview on Sunday. He emphasised that the administration is determined to enforce the policy and called on Nigerians to document instances where the directive is ignored.
“If you identify a celebrity, a private sector person, or any individual who has police against the executive order of the president, as much as you can, capture evidence, whether a photograph or video,” Bwala said.

He noted that the order is not a blanket withdrawal for all public officials.
“The order of the president to withdraw police from VIPs is not all-encompassing. There are critical people in government who will still have one form of security or another,” he explained.
According to Bwala, security coverage for such officials may come from other agencies instead of the police.
“It could be SSS, Civil Defence, and not the police who will be there to help you. But police have no business being with you,” he said.
Tinubu recently ordered the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs nationwide, mandating their return to frontline policing roles.
