Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has responded to criticism that followed his team’s 5-4 victory over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) semi-final first leg in France, saying, “I don’t care”.

The Spanish tactician expressed this view recently while addressing reporters ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 match against FC Lorient.

His remarks follow comments from pundits such as Wayne Rooney, who asserted that defenders and goalkeepers would be dissatisfied with the scoreline.

The Man United legend stated: “I don’t understand how, as a player or a coach, regardless of winning the game, you can be content after conceding four or five goals. I believe there are questions that need to be addressed.”

Reacting while addressing journalists, Enrique said not every opinion warrants respect when the majority holds a different view.

He further expressed his dissatisfaction with analysts’ remarks regarding his defensive approach during the encounter.

“You shouldn’t respect all opinions… because if it’s a poor opinion, it doesn’t deserve respect. There are individuals who appreciate playing football in this manner, which is the majority, and I count myself among them, alongside those who prefer a different style.

“I disregard those opinions. What we demonstrate is that most football enthusiasts found it enjoyable, and that is what truly matters,” Enrique said via Fabrizio Romano on X.

On Wednesday, PSG will travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the European semi-final.
