The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Nigeria’s former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following an invitation and subsequent grilling by the agency.
Malami made this known on Saturday via a now-trending post he shared on his official X page.
The former minister, who described his engagement with the anti-graft agency as a “successful” one, added that he was given an appointment for further questioning.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, he wrote: “In line with my undertaking to keep Nigerians updated on my invitation by EFCC, I give glory to Allah for His divine intervention. The engagement was successful and I am eventually released, while on an appointment for further engagement, as the truth relating to the fabricated allegations against me continues to unfold.”
Malami, in an earlier post on Friday, had disclosed that the commission summoned him for a chat, apparently over allegations linked to his time in office.
In the statement, he promised to honour the invitation of the EFCC because he is committed to accountability and transparency.
Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote: “I would like to inform my family and friends that I have been summoned by the EFCC to provide clarification on certain matters, and as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I am determined to honour this invitation without any hesitation.”
