Gernot Rohr’s men head into the game against Liberia facing the possibility of either sealing qualification or adding to the pressure that’s starting to build.

An underwhelming result in Tangier and success for Cape Verde against the Central African Republic could leave the Super Eagles level with the former or drop to second if they lose.

A win is imperative for the West Africans to avoid going into their final game with Cape Verde fearful of their prospects of making the playoff round.

The Super Eagles must, therefore, beat Liberia in Morocco and at least draw against the Blue Sharks in Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, November 16,  to move into the next round.

Nigeria opened the scoring through Victor Osimhen, who scored from the penalty spot after Kelechi Iheanacho was brought down in the penalty box by the Liberian keeper.

The match remained goalless until deep into extra time when Ahmed Musa scored another penalty to make it 2-0 to Nigeria in the 94th minute.

The Super Eagles now have 12 points after defeating Liberia, 2 points ahead of Cape Verde, the two teams meet at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos and the winner of the encounter will qualify for the next round.
