Melaye also suggested that the former Anambra State governor “can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen”

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, has questioned the ability of Peter Obi, the frontline presidential aspirant of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), to lead after dumping the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The ex-federal lawmaker slammed the former Anambra State governor in a statement on Wednesday morning.
His criticism followed the decision of Obi and his prospective presidential running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to quit the ADC on Sunday and join the NDC, following what they described as unending leadership tussles and litigations within the party.
Since the duo shifted their political alliance to the NDC, there has been a gale of defections from the ADC to the party.
Reacting to the development, Dino accused Obi of running away from competitive primary elections.

The former senator also claimed that Obi has never participated in a party primary, adding that he only wants an “air-conditioned kitchen” and not “hot kitchens”.
He wondered how a man who cannot face party tribulations and crises can lead a country like Nigeria, which has so many problems.
Speaking via the statement, Melaye said: “Peter Obi excused himself from a tough situation. If he cannot face party tribulations and crises, how does he intend to handle Nigeria? Because Nigeria’s wahala [troubles] exceed the ADC’s problems.
“He can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen. Hot kitchens are not for him. He has never gone through a primary; APGA gave him a free governorship ticket, Atiku gave him a free VP ticket, and Labour gave him a free presidential ticket.
“He cannot be part of a primary election, which is the reason why he left the PDP, and the reason why he left the ADC for another free ticket in the NDC. The NDC is an agency of the APC.”
