The Delta State Police command chief, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, has refuted the allegation that he was always bias while resolving communal crises in the state.

Addressing journalists in his Asaba office, the Police chief said that any of his actions during communal crises was for peace, safety and security. He pointed out that he was authorized by the Delta State Security Council to deal strictly with anyone fueling communal crises in the state.

His words: “Those making a malicious accusation against the commissioner of police, Delta State, are only making a futile attempt to turn the truth upside down”.

The commissioner however urged the public to join hands in finding a lasting, amicable, peaceful resolution of the crises, adding that it was unfortunate that rather than sheathe their swords some persons within the communities, apparently benefiting from the lingering crises, were hell bent on fomenting trouble.

The CP as the chief law enforcer in the state had directed detectives to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the crises in the communities to prevent the hostilities from escalating into a full-scale tribal war, adding that the command had arrested nine suspects in respect of the matter.

The police chief appealed to community leaders to channel their strength towards finding solutions to the crises rather than resorting to blackmail.

He called on the youths to embrace peace for the progress and prosperity of the areas.

In another development, the CP said that there were no clashes between the herdsmen and farmers in Delta State. He said that the command was not aware of any herdsmen/farmers clash anywhere in the state, adding that such unfounded reports are unprofessional, misleading and capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in the state.
