“The APC is cajoling and coercing opposition to join them.
“I’m beginning to feel Nigerians have been ‘jazzed’ by some politicians because the behaviour and misdemeanour do not appear normal to me.
“People who have no business whatsoever, imagine a second term governor. Where are you running to? Where are you running away from?
“For me, it’s a combination of so many things. There are those ones who want jollification. So those ones will go where the power is. You know the Federal Government of Nigeria is more powerful than the American President” – Momodu.

Dele Momodu has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of directly and indirectly coercing members of opposition parties to join it, apparently in hopes by Bola Tinubu of raising the prospects of him retaining his job in the Villa in the 2027 ballot.
The veteran journalist and publisher, now politician, bared his mind on Arise Television, noting how several prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the APC, including in the latest batch Governors Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).
“The APC is cajoling and coercing opposition to join them,” Momodu insisted.
“I’m beginning to feel Nigerians have been ‘jazzed’ by some politicians because the behaviour and misdemeanour do not appear normal to me.

“For me, it’s a combination of so many things. There are those ones who want jollification. So those ones will go where the power is. You know the Federal Government of Nigeria is more powerful than the American President.”
Momodu himself defected in July from the PDP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He explained in a letter dated July 17 and addressed to PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Council of Edo, that his departure was with immediate effect.
“My reason is simple and straightforward,” the letter said.
“Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight. It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
His defection to the ADC marks a significant shift in Edo politics, and adds momentum to the realignments for the 2027 general election, aimed principally to remove Tinubu from the presidency.
Momodu in 2021 joined the PDP where he actively participated in national debates and party activities. His exit followed a wave of resignations by other prominent figures in the party disillusioned with its internal dynamics.
