DAWN Games 2014: Oladunjoye applauds athletes, officials

Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroots Sports, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, has praised athletes and officials participating at the ongoing DAWN Games in Lagos.

Oladunjoye who was one of the dignitaries that watched the finals of the gymnastics events said the sky will be the limit for the athletes, especially those from Lagos if they keep up the tempo.

“To be sincere, the championship has really lived up to expectations. I’m impressed with the performances of the athletes, especially those in Team Lagos.

 

“They’ve really showed that the sky is their limit if only they can keep up the tempo and compose themselves for the tasks ahead.

“From what I’ve witnessed in the ongoing championship, I want to say that Nigeria will be a force to reckon with at the next All African Games as well as other international competitions across the world,” he said.

 

He went further: “Officiating officers have also lived up to expectations and we must praise them for the good work they are doing so far.

 

Meanwhile, Team Lagos were outstanding in the Gymnastics events of the maiden South-West Secondary Schools Championship tagged DAWN Games 2014 as they won 17 medals to top the medals table of the sport decided at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba.

 

The breakdown of medals won showed that the Ortega Akintola inspired Team Lagos won eight gold, six silver and. three bronze.

 

Team Ekiti were second with two gold, three silver and two bronze medal. Ogun were third with one gold, five bronze while Team Oyo could only win three silver and two bronze to claim the fourth position.
