Ace Afrobeats singer and music producer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has explained why he is no longer passionate about venturing into politics, noting that most politicians in Nigeria view the field as a business venture rather than an opportunity for public service.
The ‘Electricity’ crooner shared these insights during a recent livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel.
According to Davido, observing other celebrities who entered the political arena prompted him to reconsider his own ambitions.

He added that most public figures who transitioned from entertainment to politics have not been particularly successful in the role.
Davido explained that while he was previously interested in partisan politics, his legacy in the music industry and the current political climate have made him sceptical.
Speaking during the chat, he said: “Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill—my name, my career, the hard work, and the fan base we have built—it is tricky because of the way people look at things. For the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful.
“I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business.”
