Danladi, Speaker of Kwara Assembly, emerges APC guber candidate

Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for the 2027 election.
Danladi emerged the candidate as he was announced as the winner of the primary election conducted on Friday after the earlier one going on Thursday was cancelled midway.
He had earlier been mentioned to be among the eight aspirants that reportedly stepped down for Yahaya Seriki whom the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, had announced as his preferred successor.
However in the early morning of Friday reports of the aspirants not stepping down for Seriki went round the state indicating that they were all contesting the election.
There was speculation that Governor Abdulrazaq might have changed his mind to endorse Danladi as against Seriki that he had earlier endorse this was more so that Seriki reportedly asked his supporters to support Danladi at the election.
But, Seriki notwithstanding his reported support for Danladi, was still listed as a contestant on The election as the result of the election announced shows that he emerged second in the contest.
Chairman of the electoral committee for the primary election, Musiliu Obanikoro, said that Danladi polled more than 65% of the total ballots.
He announced Danladi to have scored 94,990 votes to win the poll while disclosing that Seriki polled 41,700 votes to be the first runner-up and Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, 22,118 to emerge the second runner-up.
The election was held among the members of the APC across the 193 wards in the state.
