Cleric tasks couples on peace

By Onwukwe Ezeru, Abia

As divorce case rises in Nigeria, a cleric from Anglican Church, Canon Charles Akubueze, has advised married couples not to allow a third party into their marriage.

He gave the advice at Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State during the traditional wedding of Mr. Valentine Ugochukwu and Mrs. Adaku Oluka (Nee Igwe).

According to Akubueze, any marriage without a strong foundation on the path of the Lord would not stand. “Marriage is not a contract rather an institution that will be forever. I therefore enjoin the couple to follow the path of the Lord and shun activities capable of tearing them apart”.

While handing over his daughter to the people of Okija in Anambra State, Sir Christopher Igwe thanked God for giving him another opportunity to give out his daughter for marriage, adding that it was not long he gave out his medical doctor daughter and “today Adaku a doctorate degree student of soil management in China is getting married”.

Igwe advised his daughter to follow the footsteps of her late mother who lived with him for 36 years without quarrel. “Adaku, do not quarrel with Ugochukwu your husband and if any, it should be settled within you without third party. Tolerate each other always” he advised.
