Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has heaped praise on his players after they annihilated the Benin Republic on Tuesday night.
Nigeria thrashed the Cheetahs 4–0 to finish second in Group C, courtesy of a hat-trick from Victor Osimhen and a goal from Frank Onyeka.
They join the likes of Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo in the final qualification round after the convincing win at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Speaking after the win, Chelle said the team can now focus on competing in the playoffs.

He said, “I am very happy for my players, especially the best striker in the world, Victor [Osimhen].
“Now we go to Morocco; it’s going to be very difficult. This is the start, and I am proud of everyone, even the fans, because they pushed us.”
Also commenting on the win, Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, said he and his teammates can be proud of their performance against Benin.
He went on to acknowledge that it has been a difficult journey for the team.
“It’s easy to celebrate this good moment, but it’s been really tough this last month. That’s down to us, to come out now and achieve something that was said to be impossible many times, yet we kept believing,” Troost-Ekong said after the game.
