Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has admitted that despite his side’s 2-0 win over the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup semi-final on Tuesday night, his players still made several errors.

The Malian tactician made the admission while addressing journalists during his post-match interview at The Valley in London.

Two goals from Femi Azeez in the 6th and 63rd minutes ensured Nigeria defeated the hard-fighting Zimbabwe side.

With this victory, Chelle’s men will now face the winner of the match between India and Jamaica in the tournament’s final this weekend.

While acknowledging that his players made mistakes during the match, the Super Eagles gaffer clarified that the encounter was merely a friendly and not a competitive World Cup qualifier.

“This is only a friendly game. This is not a World Cup qualifier. They need to work hard,” Chelle said.

He added: “They need to try to understand what I want, what the technical staff want, because playing at a high level is difficult.

“So you see, we made some mistakes with the ball. For sure, tomorrow we will work on them.”
