Popular chef and content creator Chiamaka Egemba, better known as Chef Amaka, has risen to the defence of her husband and health influencer, Dr Chinonso Fidelis Egemba (aka Aproko Doctor), following rumours that he cannot father a child.
She addressed the saga recently during an interview that has been making the rounds and is currently trending on several social media platforms.
According to the celebrity chef, not long after they walked down the aisle, many people concluded that her husband was infertile simply because they had not yet conceived.
She went on to say the rumours were completely false, adding that the real challenge was her diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal condition that can affect ovulation and fertility.
While opening up about the delay, Chef Amaka recalled that she married Aproko Doctor in June 2020 with high hopes for their future together. However, she noticed three months down the line that she had missed her menstrual cycle and immediately sought medical attention.
“I just got married to my husband in June. Three months into the marriage, I didn’t see my period. Then I went to the hospital, and they told me I had PCOS,” she said.

The condition, she further explained, changed her body structure. Yet, many blamed her husband for their inability to have a child after marriage instead of asking questions.
“What made me cry was when they said my husband is not man enough to father a child,” she continued.
Chef Amaka also shared that the ailment caused visible physical changes that attracted unwanted attention, noting that she gained weight and developed a broader upper-body frame.
“I started having an upper-body structure. Then I started adding weight. When my husband and I stood together, I looked way older,” she noted. She added that some people mocked their marriage by referring to her as “the man of the house.”
According to her, the comments about her changing body became increasingly difficult to ignore, and the harsh remarks about her appearance hurt her deeply.
Amaka admitted that the rumours targeting Aproko Doctor affected her even more, and hearing people question his masculinity because of their delayed conception brought her to tears.
“In my head, I was like, ‘All this because I’ve never conceived?'” she stated.
