Nigerian singer, actor, and TV show host Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has alleged that most Nigerian pastors are in ministry for business purposes.
He made the claim recently while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of the ‘KAA Truths’ podcast.
According to Charly Boy, about 99 per cent of Christian clerics in Nigeria are more interested in making profits from their churches than speaking truth to power.
He went on to slam them for their complicit silence in the face of the economic and security challenges confronting the nation.

The 75-year-old songwriter also accused pastors of working with corrupt politicians to exploit the masses.
He emphasised that despite residing in Nigeria, he does not think or behave like most Nigerians and would not fall for the “sanctimonious antics” of certain clerics.
Speaking during the interview, Charly Boy said: “All the pastors I know of in Nigeria, 99 per cent of them are useless. It is just a business that they are running.
“I may live in Nigeria but Nigeria does not live in me. I don’t believe like you. I don’t want to think like you people. I’m not in the same class as you people. I come from a different space and time.”
