Catholic priest shoots boy dead, netizens react

A Catholic priest has attracted reactions online for allegedly shooting to death a boy who set off knockouts on his church premises during the New Year celebration on January 1.

The incident happened in Amaimo, Ikeduru Council of Imo but neither the name of the priest nor that of the deceased could be verified at publication time.

Imo Police Command spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed police are aware of the incident and have begun investigation into it.

“We have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the remote facts surrounding the incident.

“Further development on the case will be communicated in due course, please,” Okoye, said per The PUNCH.

Social media is awash with comments on the killing.

He quoted eyewitness accounts, saying after the deceased set off the knockouts, “the priest, whose identity remains undisclosed, picked up a firearm and fatally shot him.

“The incident has left the community in shock and mourning, with residents expressing outrage and demanding a thorough investigation to uncover the facts behind the unfortunate event.”
