The visit came a few days after the All Progressives Congress, (APC) governors, led by Senator Hope Uzodimma, paid a similar visit to Buhari.
Following the development, many Nigerians suggested that the visits by Atiku and others were for coalition talks.
Reacting to the innuendoes, Atiku said his visit was just for the Sallah celebrations, adding that it has no political undertone.
Speaking with newsmen after the visit, he said, “We came here on a courtesy and Sallah greetings visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.”
When asked about plans to form a major opposition party, Atiku acknowledged ongoing discussions but reiterated that it was not the purpose of the visit.
