An altercation broke out between entertainers Carter Efe and Speed Darlington at the pre-boxing event for their upcoming celebrity boxing match, “Chaos in the Ring.”

The event, hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos by Balmoral Group Promotions, was reportedly organized as a promotional press conference and live streamed buildup to the upcoming bout between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington.

What began as a promotional event, however, quickly escalated into a heated verbal confrontation between both parties.

Tension reportedly brewed after Speed Darlington referred to Carter Efe as an “old man” and challenged him to confirm whether he was still willing to fight. Carter Efe fired back , saying that actions would speak louder than words, while confirming that their bout is scheduled for October 1, 2026.

The verbal exchange intensified as both men traded increasingly sharp remarks before the confrontation turned physical on stage. Security personnel quickly intervened and held both parties apart to prevent the situation from escalating further.

The incident was live streamed and played out in full view of the audience and viewers following the event online.

Several moments during the confrontation also referenced Speed Darlington’s previous boxing match with famous singer Portable, which took place on April 19, 2025. Darlington asserted that Portable did not actually beat him, arguing that his defeat was due to“technicality”.

Carter Efe later shared a clip of the statement on his official Instagram account, captioning it “Technicality In The Ring?”

However, some social media users have questioned the authenticity of the confrontation, suggesting that the clash was staged as part of the promotional buildup for the upcoming fight.

One user, @kedd1st, commented: “This is obviously staged by the way.”

Another user, @biggestboy0, added: “Publicity stunt, if you know, you know.”

Whether the confrontation was genuine or part of the promotional strategy, it has undoubtedly generated attention for the highly anticipated bout, across various platforms.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to share their predictions and debate who they believe will emerge victorious in the upcoming match.
